Choose by material
Use gravel, mulch, sand, soil, sod, seed, fertilizer, or landscape-rock tools when the supplier sells a specific material by bags, pallets, weight, or bulk volume.

Include installed depth
For loose materials, area alone is not enough. Enter the intended finished depth and consider settling, compaction, and uneven grade where they apply.

Use system tools carefully
Drainage and irrigation calculators provide preliminary quantities or runtime screens. Soil, pressure, flow, rainfall, slope, plant needs, and local requirements still control design.
