Editorial and corrections policy
Every calculator must solve a real task, make its assumptions inspectable, and provide more value than a rewritten summary of another source.
Effective October 9, 2026
Original purpose and scope
BuildPlanCalc publishes calculators developed for construction, landscaping, exterior, interior, measurement, and general mathematical tasks. New pages must add distinct functionality or genuinely different project guidance; pages are not created merely to target keyword variations, cities, or states.
Research and sources
We prefer primary and authoritative references such as government agencies, standards bodies, trade associations, technical manuals, and manufacturer instructions. Sources support a formula or assumption but do not transfer responsibility for a particular project to that source.
When values vary by product or location, the calculator should expose them as editable assumptions rather than presenting an unsourced default as a universal fact.
Automation and human review
Software and automated tools may assist with calculations, consistency checks, testing, research organization, and drafting. They do not remove the requirement to validate formulas, inspect sources, test real inputs, disclose limitations, and correct errors before or after publication.
Mass-generated pages with little original value are outside this policy. Calculator records are tested for unique descriptions, formulas, examples, guidance, sources, related links, and working outputs.
Authorship and accountability
BuildPlanCalc publishes the calculator code and editorial material under the BuildPlanCalc name and accepts responsibility for investigating reproducible errors. We do not publish invented bylines, credentials, professional approvals, testing claims, or reviewer identities.
If named contributors or qualified reviewers are added later, their role, relevant background, and the pages they reviewed should be stated accurately. A general citation or commercial relationship is not presented as an endorsement.
Corrections
Substantive corrections to formulas, validation, assumptions, sources, or safety limitations should be made promptly and reflected in the page's review date. Minor spelling or layout changes do not necessarily change that date.
Readers can report a correction with a URL, reproducible inputs, observed result, expected result, and supporting reference. Reports are evaluated on evidence rather than commercial relationships.
Commercial separation
Advertising does not determine formulas, source choices, calculator availability, or results. Read the Advertising Policy and the detailed calculator methodology.
